Anyone who volunteers on a regular basis and works directly with students or coaches in the school must obtain and comply with the following list of requirements:

VOLUNTEERS HAVING REGULAR CONTACT WITH CHILDREN (Adults who perform a church/school-related service in which they have direct volunteer contact with children on an unpaid full or part-time basis. i.e.: overnight field trip chaperones, classroom aides) MUST HAVE:

Diocesan Statement of Intent for Compliance

Diocesan Application for Adults Working with Children

PA State Police Criminal Record Check (every five years)

PA Dept. of Public Welfare Child Abuse History Certification (every five years)

Federal Criminal Record Check (IF not a Pennsylvania resident for the previous continuous ten years)

Diocesan Mandated Reporter Compliance Document (once a year)

Diocesan Creating a Safe Environment online in-service (every five years)

School Volunteers ONLY (State) Mandated Reporter Training (every five years)

VOLUNTEER COACHES MUST HAVE (Links above):

  • All of the above in Volunteers Having Regular Contact with Children plus:
  • On-line Sudden Cardiac Arrest Training (every year)
  • On-line Concussion in Sports Class (every year)

VOLUNTEERS HAVING OCCASIONAL CONTACT WITH CHILDREN (Adults who perform a church/school related service for children/youth in a supervised setting on an irregular basis) i.e.: hot lunch volunteer, room parent, field trip chaperone) MUST HAVE (Links above):

  • PA State Police Criminal Record Check (every five years)
  • PA Dept. of Public Welfare Child Abuse History Certification (every five years)
  • Be listed on the Occasional Volunteers List form
  • Occasional Volunteer Conduct Form
  • Diocesan Mandated Reporter Compliance Document

These clearances are free for volunteers and are required before they can begin volunteering. Copies of these forms must be kept in the school office. Volunteers who transport or drive students for any reason will need to fill out the Volunteer Drivers Form http://www.eriercd.org/pdf/volunteer.pdf

And provide a copy of their current vehicle insurance card. These forms are available in the school office.
